I have decided to run a small engine on a low voltage electrolysis cell. The power
supply will be from a arc welder with additional circuitry to supply a rectified DC
output up to 100amp if need be .
This experiment will be to record the amount of gas needed to run the engine
continuously. I will then try and increase efficiency with ideas that may allow
a overall reduction of gas needed to sustain the engine. These future modifications

There has been speculation in the area of vacuum electrolysis concerning increased
efficiencies supposedly creating either more H/O or different atomic conditions
increasing energy levels?....more soon

Air and Gas Ionization
There is speculation in this area that the air and or water mist being ionized will
increase the thermally explosive energy yield during combustion....This theory is
based on Stan Meyers Water Fuel Injector see here.
Monatomic Hydrogen Production
If a feasible way exists to make Monatomic Hydrogen it will increase power, but not
as much as I thought .....refer to Tero's calculation here
The Cell
Tero Ranta came up with a brilliant low voltage series cell design, it can be viewed here.
Tero has been a great asset to low voltage and general experimentation.
I have changed a few things with his design for my personal needs, nothing is wrong with
his design I just over engineer things sometimes probably unnecessarily.
My drawings of the cell can be viewed here (Ms Paint). I have not yet had time to double
check dimensions..(more information soon). I will be building the cell soon when I can
afford to...I do not advise anyone to attempt to build this, It could be potential lethal
if it exploded!

The Engine
My engines capacity is approx 70cc (I will verify that soon). I have kept the engine
internals standard but have modified it to have a electric start and have a 2 to 1
reduction drive to fire the spark every 720 degrees. This will prevent the waste spark
causing a Backfire. I also have a T piece that will allow gas to enter through the
intake manifold. The two tank system may be used for other experiments where water is
primarily used. The end picture shows the sensor I am using to help trigger the
ignition coil....more soon.

I Tried to make a backflash arrestor but it didn't work... it exploded!...

Tero suggested have a balloon or something that can be exploded off the top of the
backflash container and can easily be replaced... Great Idea !
I have also obtained sample pieces of porous metal that might work as a backflash
arrestor....more soon again don't build anything above it's dangerous!
The Engine Gas Requirements
After some time of discussion I have came to a conclusion that my engine will need approx
10 litres per minute of Hydrogen/Oxygen from the electrolyser to run it constantly.
This means that it will produce 6.6 litres per minute of Hydrogen Oxygen may help in the
combustion but is not really needed never the less it will produce
4.4 litres per minute of Oxygen.
Calculations are a little confusing based on alot of peoples point of view? The information
here looks very interesting. This link will send you to my appropriate forum thread Minimum

It seems in my examination (see forum) that it should be able to run with much lower
Hydrogen per minute ratios but this may effect the power. Hopefully a stronger ignition
and higher compression ratios will increase the power so lower fuel ratios can be used?...
maybe we have to look more into precise port hydrogen injection for improved performance aswell?
I suppose this is exactly why I am building this little engine and powering it
with Hydrogen on demand so it can give some real proof of concept to these ideas
on improving efficiency.
The two to one reduction drive Electronics and High Voltage energy Ignition
The circuit I am using is designed by Ronald for the spark triggering system.
and can be viewed here
I have completed 90% of it and had it triggering by hand when it was rotated the disc.
I blew the mosfet for some reason so I am fiddling with the circuit at the moment.
The high voltage capacitor that I will be using was also designed by Ronald

Either get a high voltage capacitor or make one out of aluminum foil.
Mine is:
Three 10" x 10" sheets of 0.125 plexiglass
Two 8.5" x 8.5" sheets of heavy duty aluminum foil
Put together in a sandwich (plexi - foil - plexi - foil - plexi)
(I just taped around the edges to hold it together).
This gives you 298 pico-farads of capacitance.
Make sure you have a wire lead from each foil.
Put this inline between the spark plug and the ignition coil.
(Coil>>>>>Homemade Capacitor>>>>>>>Sprk Plug)
If you use a commercial HV capacitor, don't go over .001 - .003 mf.
You want a big quick powerful spark.......you don't want a long one.
If your capacitor gets too big, it won't discharge all the way, and
if it gets really big.....nothing will happen because you won't have
enough spark to charge it.

go to all the hassle of the reduction drive see it here Future Plans I aim to
design and build a Hydrogen fuel Injector/spark plug. Hopefully someone can
design the fuel injection electronics for me?
I hope to build a High voltage Cell either Stanley Meyer based or Eccles design
see here . This Patent By Eccles is based on the similar theory and is more
simple to replicate initially.
Anything to do with the Eccles or Stanley Meyers Technology you will need a good
variable Pulse Generator and Oscilloscope to really see what's going on. I have
my eye on this system by CL systems seen here more info here.
