Cartoon Law I Any body suspended in space will remain in space until made aware of its situation. Daffy Duck steps off a cliff, expecting further pastureland. He loiters in midair, soliloquizing flippantly, until he chances to look down. At this point, the familiar principle of 32 feet per second per second takes over.
Cartoon Law II
Any body in motion will tend to remain in motion until solid matter intervenes suddenly. Whether shot from a cannon or in hot pursuit on foot, cartoon characters are so absolute in their momentum that only a telephone pole or an outsize boulder retards their forward motion absolutely. Sir Isaac Newton called this sudden termination of motion
the stooge's surcease.
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the specialty of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole.
The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.
Cartoon Law IV
The time required for an object to fall twenty stories is greater than or equal to the time it takes for whoever knocked it off the ledge to spiral down twenty flights to attempt to capture it unbroken. Such an object is inevitably priceless, the attempt to capture it inevitably unsuccessful.
Cartoon Law V
All principles of gravity are negated by fear. Psychic forces are sufficient in most bodies for a shock to propel them directly away from the earth's surface. A spooky noise or an adversary's signature sound will induce motion upward,
usually to the cradle of a chandelier, a treetop, or the crest of a flagpole. The feet of a character who is running or
the wheels of a speeding auto need never touch the ground, especially when in flight.
Cartoon Law VI
As speed increases, objects can be in several places at once. This is particularly true of tooth-and-claw fights, in
which a character's head may be glimpsed emerging from the cloud of altercation at several places simultaneously.
This effect is common as well among bodies that are spinning or being throttled. A `wacky' character has the option
of self-replication only at manic high speeds and may ricochet off walls to achieve the velocity required.
Cartoon Law VII
Certain bodies can pass through solid walls painted to resemble tunnel entrances; others cannot. This trompe l'oeil
inconsistency has baffled generations, but at least it is known that whoever paints an entrance on a wall's surface
to trick an opponent will be unable to pursue him into this theoretical space. The painter is flattened against the wall
when he attempts to follow into the painting. This is ultimately a problem of art, not of science.
Cartoon Law VIII
Any violent rearrangement of feline matter is impermanent. Cartoon cats possess even more deaths than the traditional
nine lives might comfortably afford. They can be decimated, spliced, splayed, accordion-pleated, spindled, or
disassembled, but they cannot be destroyed. After a few moments of blinking self pity, they reinflate, elongate, snap
back, or solidify. Corollary: A cat will assume the shape of its container.

Everything falls faster than an anvil.
Cartoon Law X
For every vengeance there is an equal and opposite revengeance. This is the one law of animated cartoon motion
that also applies to the physical world at large. For that reason, we need the relief of watching it happen to a duck
instead.
Cartoon Law Amendment A
A sharp object will always propel a character upward. When poked (usually in the buttocks) with a sharp object
(usually a pin), a character will defy gravity by shooting straight up, with great velocity.
Cartoon Law Amendment B
The laws of object permanence are nullified for "cool" characters. Characters who are intended to be "cool" can
make previously nonexistent objects appear from behind their backs at will. For instance, the Road Runner can
materialize signs to express himself without speaking.
Cartoon Law Amendment C
Explosive weapons cannot cause fatal injuries. They merely turn characters temporarily black and smoky.
Cartoon Law Amendment D
Gravity is transmitted by slow-moving waves of large wavelengths. Their operation can be witnessed by observing
the behavior of a canine suspended over a large vertical drop. Its feet will begin to fall first, causing its legs to stretch.
As the wave reaches its torso, that part will begin to fall, causing the neck to stretch. As the head begins to fall,
tension is released and the canine will resume its regular proportions until such time as it strikes the ground.
Cartoon Law Amendment E
Dynamite is spontaneously generated in "C-spaces" (spaces in which cartoon laws hold). The process is analogous
to steady-state theories of the universe which postulated that the tensions involved in maintaining a space would
cause the creation of hydrogen from nothing. Dynamite quanta are quite large (stick sized) and unstable (lit). Such
quanta are attracted to psychic forces generated by feelings of distress in "cool" characters (see Amendment B,
which may be a special case of this law), who are able to use said quanta to their advantage. One may imagine
C-spaces where all matter and energy result from primal masses of dynamite exploding. A big bang indeed.

CAC MALAGA AND KARA WALKER
From the 27 of Junio till 31 August, will be an exhibitions of Kara Walker
at the Centre Contemporary of Art in Malaga (CAC)
Kara Walker (born November 26, 1969) is a modern American artist who
is best known for her exploration of race, gender, sexuality, and identity in
her artworks.
Walker was born in Stockton, California. Her father was both a painter and
a teacher. Walker's education includes an MFA at Rhode Island School of
Design in Painting/Printmaking, and a BFA in Painting/Printmaking at
Atlanta College of Art.
Some of Walker's exhibitions have been shown at theMuseum of Modern
Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of
Contemporary Art. Walker has also been shown internationally and featured
on PBS.

Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Does hemp get horny?
Apparently it does, according to “The Botany of Desire,” a fascinating nature program
airing tomorrow on PBS at 8 p.m. New York time. Furthermore, some marijuana plants
may even pine for humans.
The show examines the relationship between humans and marijuana, tulips, apples and
potatoes. While we might think we’re in command, host Michael Pollan makes a good
case that these supposedly passive partners seduce us into doing their bidding by
appealing to our desires for intoxication, beauty, sweetness and control.
“They’ve been using us,” says Pollan, who has written extensively on agriculture, food
and gardening. The program is based on his book, “The Botany of Desire: A Plant’s Eye
View of the World.”
Apples originated in Central Asia and in the beginning there were thousands of types,
most of them very bitter. Sweetness, says Pollan, was their ticket out of the forest.
Bears ate the sweetest apples and excreted their seeds in ever-expanding areas.
Humans eventually took a bite and were hooked, exporting apples down the Silk Road
to Europe and later America, where they found an evangelist in the person of John
Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed.
The Appleseed saga underscores the love-hate nature of these relationships, Pollan
explains. It wasn’t long before Americans started using apples to make hard cider, the
go-to drink for children and presidents alike. John Adams started his day with a couple
of belts and by the 1830s chronic cider intoxication had become a national menace.
Tulip Mania
Suddenly apples were seen as evil, but it was too late. They had used humans to get
out in the world and left them with a hangover. Pretty smart for a dumb piece of fruit.
Tulips, which also originated in Central Asia, seduced humans by gratifying our desire
for beauty. Like Helen of Troy they drove some people entirely nuts.
During the tulip mania of the 1630s, some Dutch investors paid what amounted to
$10 million to $15 million in today’s currency for a single bulb, Pollan says. Like all
investment bubbles this one finally burst, unleashing a wave of tulip hatred symbolized
by a mad professor who roamed the streets with a stick, beating the blossoms to shreds.
Yet the love of tulips, and other flowers, is very much with us today, symbolized by the
Aalsmeer Flower Market near Amsterdam, housed in a building bigger than 200 football
fields.
Drug War
The program’s section on marijuana reminds us that plants with intoxicating qualities
will always find suitors, even though the road can lead to prison.
It wasn’t always that way. In the 1800s Americans legally used cannabis to treat labor pain,
asthma and rheumatism. Eventually the war on drugs drove growers indoors, where they
created a strain of pot with a mind of its own. One planter, whose identity is withheld, says
that when his partner is gone for a few days, “the plants know it” and they “don’t do as well.”
I guess even weed gets the blues.
Pollan is a thoughtful and engaging host, often reminding us that plants really don’t have
minds or agendas. It just seems that way.
Like humans, plants can experience a romantic rising of the sap. When male plants are
removed from the growing area “sexually frustrated” female plants excrete large amounts
of resin, apparently in the hope of attracting male spores. The final segment features
potatoes, first cultivated in the Andes 8,000 years ago. They seduce men by giving them
control over hunger, though this can be illusory.
French Fries
The Irish developed a dependency on one type of potato -- the Lumper -- that was wiped
out by an airborne blight in 1845. One in eight citizens died as a result.
We are creating a similar “monoculture,” the documentary warns, because of our French
fry infatuation. Americans consume 7.5 billion pounds a year, many of which are produced
from the Russet Burbank.
The show stresses the importance of diversifying the crop and the health benefits
of organic farming. There’s little doubt who will have the last laugh.
One reasonably assumes tulips will be dancing in the sun long after the human
race has converted itself to fertilizer.

Stuart Hazeldine ("Exam") has apparently completed the screenplay
for a film adaptation of John Christopher's classic British
sci-fi novel trilogy "The Tripods" and indicates Alex Proyas
("Knowing", "Dark City") is aiming to produce and potentially direct
according to Digital Spy.
The story follows three teens fleeing from alien conquerors
dwelling in three-legged machines who enslaved humans with
mind-control devices implanted in the brain.
A previous BBC TV adaptation in the 1980's gained a cult
following but was cancelled after its second season, failing
to bring the last of the books to the screen.
Hazeldine indicates his script is based on the first book
alone and should the film be a success, the plan is to
adapt the remaining two.... »

Today MTV released the plans for the Micheal Jackson robot that is to be built in Las Vegas.
Fashion designer André Van Pier, a good friend of Latoya Jackson who designed many of
the Jackson’s costumes, along side with designer of the robot, Timothy Patterson and partner
Micheal Luckman, had discussed with Michael Jackson the plans for the 50-foot robot that
would illuminate the Nevada desert. Today, following the death of MJ, Timothy Patterson and
Micheal Luckman present the plans for the Jackson Robot Hotel Complex to be built in Las
Vegas. Patterson had been working with André Van Pier before his unfortunate death in
August 2009.

Jagger, Richards, Lennon Saw UFOs and Aliens
The Good Reverend
Michael Luckman, director of the New York Center for Extraterrestrial Research,
has written a new book about the connection between British rock stars and
creatures from outer space:
"In 1968 he went camping in Glastonbury with his then girlfriend, singer
Marianne Faithful, and encountered a rare, luminous cigar-shaped mothership.
. . . .
The 63-year-old singer also sighted a UFO over the crowd during The Rolling
Stones' infamous 1969 Altamont Concert in California.
Mick is not the only member of the band to believe in aliens. Guitarist Keith
Richards has also admitted to "seeing a few".. . . .
"John Lennon was apparently given a small egg shaped metallic-looking
object which he in turn gave to Uri Geller, the psychic.
"He didn't know what the purpose of it was, but he claimed he had been given it
by an extraterrestrial. Interestingly, this all happened less than a year before
he was assassinated."
Link (via Fortean Times). So what Luckman's suggesting is, Uri Geller killed John Lennon?
Or arranged for the aliens to kill him? If Lennon had given that egg to Richards instead,
I'm pretty sure he would have ground it up and snorted it.

This is NOT your history class!, August 5, 2008
I see many people complaining that the movie doesn't give much attention to the whole Revolution fuss.
Of course, in a story dealing with Marie Antoinette, one would have expected the revolution to be the central point of it all. But this is the very differential of this movie: it gives you an intimate picture of the queen, her life and her reality - even if that reality was not in accordance to the one of her people.
Not that it was good or right, but that's how it was. Period.
And that's what i liked about it. The French Revolution - it's why's, how's, when's, you should have
learnt in your history class. This is NOT a movie that will teach you history. This is a movie that will show you the infamous and despised Marie Antoinette from another point of view.
The movie is colorful, and has a wonderful light! It's pleasing to watch it, even in the balls, with all the music and movement, you don't get a headache, because it's really...smooth. The colors are alive, but no psychedelic. The soundtrack is fantastic - i loved how Sofia Coppola mixed old and modern music, and it doesn't feel awkward, The costumes are fantastic, and the fact that they filmed it all in the real Versailles, it's no wonder all seems so true. I usually don't care much about Kirsten Dunst, but she's nice here too...Coppola did managed to get a good work from an actress that is sorta uninspiring sometimes.
I agree, maybe Marie Antoinette is a bit fantasized. But as i said, this a movie you'll watch for fun, maybe for the opportunity of seeing hated Marie Antoinette in a different light. But it's not your history class. It's not her complete biography, several facts are missing, because you just cannot put one person's ENTIRE lifetime in a single movie. If you want it, read Antonia Fraser's
"Marie Antoinette: The Journey", or Evelyne Lever's "Marie Antoinette: The Last Queen of France".
As for the movie, enjoy it, the light, the beauty, the songs, the love, everything! This movie is simply meant to be enjoyed, and for that purpouse, i think it's just GREAT! Comment Permalink
