1984 US PROPAGANDA COMIC
http://www.ep.tc/grenada/

Ethan Persoff has posted the full text of a 1984 comic book produced by the
United States' CIA for airdrop on the island of Granada.

Titled "Granada," the book was "acquired through
amicable agreement with an actual recipient of the
comic and former citizen of the island," Persoff
writes. "This comic pulls no punches... Rape, Murder,
Lies, Beatings. All tied up in a dishonest Pro-Reagan
Anti-Castro message...

"This comic was never meant to be read by anyone in the
United States, or anyone outside the Carribean for that
matter."

Banksy's spray paint picture on security wall

Banksy wall Banksy strikes on West Bank barrier British
artist Banksy took a little holiday to the West Bank
and painted some amazing and subversive murals on the
wall the Israeli army is building on Palestinian land.
Check out the Manifesto on his website. Amazing stuff.

Now for the latest crisis to hit the British mainland:

a ballsy parrot.
"He's told a lady mayoress to f..(expletive) off and he
told a lady vicar: 'And you can f... off as well',"
sanctuary worker Stacey Clark said. "Two policemen came
to have a look at the centre. He told them: 'And you
can f... off you two wankers'."

Art prankster sprays Israeli wall Banksy's spray paint picture on security wall
Enlarge Image Secretive "guerrilla" artist Banksy has decorated Israel's
controversial West Bank barrier with satirical
images of life on the other side.
The nine paintings were created on the Palestinian side of the barrier.

One depicts a hole in the wall with an idyllic beach, while another shows
a mountain landscape on the other side.
Banksy's spokeswoman Jo Brooks said: "The Israeli security forces did shoot
in the air threateningly and there were quite a few guns pointed at him."
Banksy said he was threatened by Israeli security
forces Another picture shows the head of a white horse
appearing to poke through, while he has also painted a
ladder going over the wall.

The 425-mile (680-kilometre) long barrier, made of concrete walls and razor-wire
fences, is still being erected by Israeli authorities.

Israel says the structure is necessary to protect the country from suicide bombers,
but the International Court of Justice has said it breaches international law.
Banksy, who hails from the UK city of Bristol, never allows himself to be photographed
and created the images last week.

Banksy is well known for his art stunts around the world He condemned the wall but
described it as "the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti writers".

His previous creations, which critics condemn as stunts, have included a bronze spoof
of the statue of Justice from the Old Bailey, London, wearing thigh-high boots and a
suspender belt. He also embarrassed the British Museum by planting a hoax cave painting
of a man pushing a supermarket trolley, which he said went unnoticed for three days.

He has also smuggled and hung works in galleries including the Tate Britain in London
and the Metropolitan and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Steve Beeby, University of Southampton Perpetuum High Performance Integrated Circuits
and Systems Design Group  A sugar-cube-sized electric generator that feeds on
environmental vibrations has been developed. It could power swarms of wireless sensors
or even medical implants, researchers claim.

The new micro-generator harvests power electromagnetically, exploiting the wobbling
of several magnets attached to a millimetre-sized cantilever. It measures just 7.0
millimetres by 7.0 mm by 8.5 mm, and the team behind it say it is the most efficient
micro-generator yet developed.

The generator converts 30% of environmental kinetic energy into electrical power, and
could keep all sorts of low-power devices running without batteries – particularly when
alternatives like solar power are not an option.

Steve Beeby, an engineer at the University of Southampton, UK, led development of the
device. He says it could power devices attached to bridges, large buildings and other
structures that experience vibration.

Note: the magnatic device can be linked to a photo cell by a similar device outside the

25 Rules for being a Good Republican

1) Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you are a millionaire conservative radio jock, which makes it an "illness."
 2) You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own.
 3) You have to believe that the US should get out of the UN, and that our highest
national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.
 4) You have to believe that government should stay out of people's lives but it needs
to punish anyone caught having private sex with the "wrong"gender.
 5) You have to believe that pollution is OK, so long as it makes a profit.
 6) You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to Allah or Buddha.
 7) "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.
 8) You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about her
own body, but that large multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting
all mankind with no regulation whatsoever.
 9) You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you, and that Jesus
shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and Hillary Clinton.
 10) You hate the ALCU for representing convicted felons, but they owed it to the
country to bail out Oliver North.
 11) You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is to
praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits.
 12) You believe that group sex and drug use are degenerate sins that can only be
purged by running for governor of California as a Republican.

13) You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all
know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex.
 14) You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to alienate our
allies and then demand their cooperation and money.
 15) You have to believe that government medicine is wrong and that HMO's
and insurance companies only have your best interests at heart.
 16) You have to believe that providing health care to all Iraqis is soun government
policy but providing health care to all Americans is socialism personified.
 17) You believe that global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are "junk science,"
but Creationism should be taught in schools.
 18) You have to believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in Vietnam
but right in Iraq.
 19) You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a
bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
 20) You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers named in the Constitution, which includes banning gay marriages and censoring the internet.
 21) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about the adulterous
affairs of Democrats, while those of Republicans are a "private matter."
 22) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was right to censor those 28 pages from the Congressional 9/11 report because you just can't handle the truth.
23) You support state rights, which means Ashcroft telling states what locally passed voter initiatives he will allow them to have.
 24) You have to believe that what Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest
but what Bush did decades later is "stale news" and "irrelevant."
 25) You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because it is communist,
but trading with China and Vietnam is just dandy.

Blair: Global Warming Is Advancing

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Filed at 8:37 a.m. ET

LONDON (AP) -- The threat posed by climate change may be greater than previously thought, and global warming is advancing at an unsustainable
rate, Prime Minister Tony Blair said in a report published Monday.
The government-commissioned report collates evidence presented at a conference on climate change hosted by Britain's Meteorological Office
last year. It says scientists now have ''greater clarity and reduced uncertainty'' about the impacts of climate change.
In a foreword, Blair said it was clear that ''the risks of climate change may well be greater than we thought.''
'It is now plain that the emission of greenhouse gases, associated with industrialization and economic growth from a world population that has
increased six-fold in 200 years, is causing global warming at a rate that is unsustainable,'' he wrote.
Over the next century, global warming is expected to raise ocean levels, intensify storms, spread disease to new areas and shift climate zones,
possibly making farmlands drier and deserts wetter.
The U.N.-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says temperatures rose by about 1 degree during the 20th century. Computer modeling
predicts increases of between 2.5 degrees and 10.4 degrees by the year 2100, depending on how much is dome to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
Scientists have warned of climatic ''tipping points'' such as the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets melting and the Gulf Stream shutting down.
In the British report, the head of the British Antarctic Survey, Chris Rapley, warned that the huge west Antarctic ice sheet may be starting to
disintegrate, an event that could raise sea levels by 16 feet.
Rapley said a previous Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report playing down worries about the ice sheet's stability should be revised.
''The last IPCC report characterized Antarctica as a slumbering giant in terms of climate change,'' he wrote. ''I would say it is now an awakened giant.
 There is real concern.''
Blair's vow to put climate change at the center of the international agenda during Britain's leadership of the G-8 and the European Union last year
met with limited success. He was unable to overcome the Bush administration's antipathy to the Kyoto climate-change accord -- rejected by the U.S.
government on the grounds it would damage the economy. British ministers also have acknowledged that Britain is unlikely to meet its own target
of cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent by 2010.

JAY LINDSAY - The Associated Press
BOSTON -- People who drank one or more diet sodas each day developed the
same risks for heart disease as those who downed sugary regular soda, a
large but inconclusive study found.

The results surprised the researchers who expected to see a difference
between regular and diet soda drinkers. It could be, they suggest, that
even no-calorie sweet drinks increase the craving for more sweets, and
that people who indulge in sodas probably have less healthy diets
overall.

The study's senior author, Dr. Vasan Ramachandran, emphasized the
findings don't show diet sodas are a cause of increased heart disease
risks. But he said they show a surprising link that must be studied.

"It's intriguing and it begs an explanation by people who are qualified
to do studies to understand this better," said Vasan, of Boston
University School of Medicine.

However, a nutrition expert dismissed the study's findings on diet soda
drinkers.

"There's too much contradictory evidence that shows that diet beverages
are healthier for you in terms of losing weight that I would not put any
credence to the result on the diet (drinks)," said Barry Popkin, of the
University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, who has called for
cigarette-style surgeon general warnings about the negative health
effects of soda.

Susan Neely, president of the American Beverage Association, said the
notion that diet drinks are associated with bulging waistlines defies
common sense.

"How can something with zero calories that's 99 percent water with a
little flavoring in it ... cause weight gain?" she said.

The research comes from a massive, multi-generational heart study
following residents of Framingham, Mass., a town about 25 miles west of
Boston. The new study of 9,000 observations of middle-aged men and women
was published Monday online in the journal Circulation.

The researchers found those who drank one or more sodas a day -- diet or
regular -- had an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, compared to those
who drank sodas infrequently. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of symptoms
that increase the risk for heart disease including large waistlines and
higher levels of blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and blood fats
called triglycerides.

At the start of the study, those who reported drinking one or more soft
drinks a day had a 48 percent increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome
compared to those who drank less soda.

Of participants who initially showed no signs of metabolic syndrome,
those who drank one or more sodas a day had a 44 percent higher risk of
developing it four years later, they reported.

Researchers expected the results to differ when regular soda and diet
soda drinkers were compared, and were surprised when they did not, Vasan
said.

But Popkin said that result isn't that surprising. He said much of the
market for diet sodas are people who have unhealthy lifestyles and know
they need to lose weight -- with the other portion being thin people who
want to stay that way. That means many people drinking diet sodas have
unhealthy habits that could lead to increased heart disease risks,
whether they drink diet soda or not.

In studies in which some users were randomly given diet sodas and others
were given regular soda, diet soda drinkers lost weight and regular soda
drinkers gained weight, Popkin said.

In a statement, the American Heart Association said it supports dietary
patterns that include low-calorie beverages.

"Diet soda can be a good option to replace caloric beverages that do not
contain important vitamins and minerals," the association said, adding
further study is needed before any association between diet soda and
heart risk factors would lead to public recommendations.

Vasan also said poor overall health habits may be one reason diet soda
drinkers did not show lower heart disease risks in the Framingham study,
but there hasn't been enough research to say for sure.

Another possible reason is a controversial theory called "dietary
compensation," which holds that if someone drinks a large amount of
liquids at a meal, they aren't satisfied and will tend to eat more at the
next meal, Vasan said.

Other theories, Vasan said, are that people who drink a large amount of
sweetened drinks are prone to develop a taste for sweeter foods, or that
the substance that gives soda its caramel color promotes resistance to
insulin, which is needed to process calories.

Without a more definitive explanation, Vasan offers only this advice to
diet soda drinkers: "Consume in moderation and stayed tuned for more
research."

American Slavery
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?

Thousands of former American slaves died while waiting for their true life stories to be released.
Now everyone can learn their secrets in their own words!
American slavery remembrances were documented during the 1930's.
African-Americans who had been American slaves were interviewed in all of the southern states (over to Texas) and in a few northern states.
Thousands of formerly enslaved men and women, in their seventies to over one hundred years of age, took part in the project.
At that time, the Great Depression had left many Americans without income. As a way of providing employment, the federal government –
under the Roosevelt Administration – hired people who worked in a variety of occupations, including journalism.Dozens of writers were given
the assignment of documenting details about the ex-slaves' lives during and after slavery. Usually the writers went to these elderly citizens'
homes (but sometimes elsewhere) and took dictation while these first African Americans spoke for hours, remembering slavery in America.
People who were used as breeders told what happened to them. They spoke of their lives as children who began the work of pulling weeds
in the fields when they were only toddlers. These former American slaves reminisced about past loves who were sold away. They laughed
about the jokes and the corn shucking enjoyments.  They finally were able to talk about what had once been taboo. These first African Americans believed that their contributions to American written and oral history would be disseminated throughout the United States during their lifetimes.
Instead it was stored in about six archives, unknown to most people not within the academic Africana studies community. This series presents
these incredible true life stories exactly as given, not rewritten.Donna Wyant Howell has been doing research since 1988. In 1994, she began to
compile the narratives into books that were as inexpensive as possible so that they could be within the reach of everyone.

(The first editions of I WAS A SLAVE are sought and are valued highly as collector's items.) In order to do justice to this enormous body of work,
she created The I Was A Slave Book Collection that eventually will include 24 books. She emphasizes: "These precious American slave narratives
are important for Black History Month, and for every single day of the year."American slavery was documented in rare photography. The books
contain many of these never-before-published poignant photographs that were taken at the times of the interviews during the 1930's and before
the Civil War, plus photos of real (not reconstructed) cabins and other items used during American slavery.

The Sunday Times, London, June 11, 2006 Beware: the new

goths are coming PETER ALMOND
They going to take our land, our wealth, our health
and,at the end, our lives! It only happens because the
good-doing idiot, the integration-twit prefers to
believe our politicians who brought this lethal misery upon us.

ONE of Britain’s most senior military strategists has
warned that western civilisation faces a threat on a par with the
barbarian invasions that destroyed the Roman empire. In an apocalyptic
vision of security dangers, Rear Admiral Chris Parry said future
migrations would be comparable to the Goths and Vandals while north
African "barbary" pirates could be attacking yachts and beaches in the
Mediterranean within 10 years.Europe, including Britain, could be
undermined by large immigrant groups with little allegiance to their host
countries — a "reverse colonisation" as Parry described
it.These groups would stay connected to their homelands by the
internet and cheap flights. The idea of assimilation was
becoming redundant, he said.
The warnings by Parry of what could threaten Britain
over the next 30 years were delivered to senior officers and
industry experts at a conference last week. Parry, head of the
development, concepts and doctrine centre at the
Ministry of Defence, is charged with identifying the greatest
challenges that will frame national security policy in the future.
If a security breakdown occurred, he said, it was likely to be brought
on by environmental destruction and a population boom, coupled with
technology and radical Islam. The result for Britain and Europe, Parry
warned, could be "like the 5th century Roman empire facing the Goths and
the Vandals".
Parry pointed to the mass migration which disaster in the Third World could
unleash. "The diaspora issue is one of my biggest current concerns,"
he said. "Globalisation makes assimilation seem redundant and old-fashioned . . .
[the process] acts as a sort of reverse colonisation, where groups of people
are self-contained, going back and forth between their countries, exploiting
sophisticated networks and using instant communication on phones and the
internet."
Third World instability would lick at the edges of the West as pirates
attacked holiday makers from fast boats. "At some time in the next 10 years
it may not be safe to sail a yacht between Gibraltar and Malta," said the admiral.

Parry, 52, an Oxford graduate who was mentioned in dispatches in the Falklands
war, is not claiming all the threats will come to fruition.

He is warning, however, of what is likely to happen if dangers are not addressed by politicians.

Parry — who used the slogan "old dog, new tricks" when he commanded the assault
ship HMS Fearless — foresees wholesale moves by the armed forces to robots, drones,
nanotechnology, lasers, microwave weapons, space-based systems and even "customised"
nuclear and neutron bombs.Lord Boyce, the former chief of the defence staff, welcomed
Parry’s analysis.
"Bringing it together in this way shows...

Black people are racists!!! From: "joao patricio" <aranax@gmail.com> - Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2006 20:34:15 0100
Although I strongly disagree with any time of xenophobia, the fact is that I see myself marginalised by black people.
They look at white people like I and I say again I have done something to them. Actually I did not go to Africa
and enslave anyone I did not take part in ww2 so I really don't understand. Here is an example whenever a black
person steals something (and those kinds of things are more frequent with black people), they never but never
steal from a black person but in fact always choose to rob white people. Why is that? Did we steal from them?
Did they not come from their countries of origin to my country because they have poor conditions there?
Did we not let them in? Did we not leave them in peace?
And yet they cannot leave us in peace.

I don't like to generalize when I talk about a certain group or race of people, but the fact is that whenever
I pass a group of black people I feel uneasy. Perhaps it is because of my experience that tells me that a lot
of black people are criminals?

Are they poor? I've met a lot of poor people and they don't steal, don't sell drugs to kids.
 I don't know....
The conclusion I draw away from all these facts is Black people are racists!!!

Writing at the Huffington Post, blogger Susan Madrak does an excellent job of eviscerating a pet peeve of mine–that
the progressive community substitutes
psychic income for good wages:

I don’t know what it is about liberal groups whose leaders assume you should live on air while you give your life to the cause.
Has it even occurred to them how much harder it is to get a “regular” job when you’re publicly and politically active? I guess not.
 After all, they’re already employed.

Taking Issue with So-Called Exemptions from Executive Orders June 23, 2007
Executive Orders (EOs), unless they specifically exempt someone, apply to everyone in the Executive Branch.
So how is it that the plainly worded language of an EO get ignored by both the President and the Vice President?
