Launch of Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management 2009 Indira Gandhi National Open University launched through teleconferencing a Certificate programme in Water Harvesting and Management (CWHM). The university also made all its 60 Regional Centres the Special Programme Centres (SPCs) for this programme. The learning package will be supported by audio video CDS and cassettes made available at SPCs and Regional Centres. IGNOU Regional Directors have been asked to identify experts in their regions who are working in areas of water harvesting, management and conservation to be the Programme Incharges of CWHM. Addressing the campus audience comprising IGNOU scientists, directors of schools, academics, executives and nationwide audience at Regional Centres, their resource persons and learners gathered there, Vice Chancellor Professor VN Rajasekharan Pillai advised, Do not look for university professors or academics for teaching and training this certificate programme. Identify a person in each RC as Programme Incharge who is working credibly in water harvesting and water management areas. They will do local case studies, contextualise programmes ideas, and train learners. Lauding the launch of CWHM courses for learners, particularly when monsoon is near, IGNOU Chair for Sustainable Development and Father of Green Revolution Professor MS Swaminathan said, I am quite excited about the programme. It is a need-based demand for a Jal Swaraj Movement. 60% of agriculture in  Submerged Islands - It Has Already Begun Order: Reorder Duration: 5:44 Published: 2009-01-20 Uploaded: 2011-03-21 Author: tranquilocito

Millions and millions of people in India do not have access to clean drinking water. Mission In Action digs wells and
uses water trucks to get fresh water to people. These people learn about Jesus Christ and Salvation and then get to bring fresh water home to their families. Samson started his ministry August 1986 as an Evangelist. He started doing Gospel Crusades in villages and towns in India. People got saved and healed. Then the Lord spoke to him to start churches. Samson started planting churches. Now, he has pioneered 103 strong growing churches in India and one church in Germany. Samson is teaching and training Pastors and Ministers regularly through Seminars. The Lord put love in his heart for orphans, destitute people and widows. He has started 7 orphan homes. Right now, there are nearly 400 children in these homes. The ministry is also distributing safe and clean drinking water. Wells are dug and 3 water trucks supply water every day to thousands. He is feeding street children with one warm meal a day. His mobile medical care focuses on helping sick children and old people in remote villages. Right now, the Rapha Children Hospital is under construction. He opened a primary school for the slum children. His ministry is also doing humanitarian relief work during earthquakes, floods and recently the Tsunami. Samson preaches the Gospel with passion and you sense the tangible anointing of the power of the Holy Spirit. His message brings the Word of God so alive. NASA’s BioFuel Proposal: Off-shore Algae Harvesting in Plastic Bags

Semi Permeable Plastic Bags for Algae Harvesting in Ocean

Picture: Offshore Algae Harvesting in Semi-permeable bags

NASA’s design calls for using large plastic bags, made of forward-osmosis membranes, and filled with sewage for offshore harvesting of algae for bio-fuel.

My earlier post about leveraging nanotechnology for increasing the commercial viability of Algal bio-fuel opened me up a fantastic world of realizations. The wonderful technologies being developed by NASA have been time and again used to improve the quality of life for the people who inhabit this world and not just the journeys and stays of astronauts in the space. And particularly, because I felt that my hope for algae as commercially viable source of alternate energy had an even greater chance of being realized because NASA researchers too are pitching their effots in the same direction.

Just to recall the two major questions that bother us in extracting oil from algae:

  1. How to grow algae so that it minimizes dependence on earth’s resources, either cultivable land (an issue in bio-fuels today) or water (an increasingly scarce resource)?
  2. How to extract oil with minimal damage to algae so that growth lapses are minimized?

Equally as hope-inspiring as the nanotechnology based approaches for algal fuel extraction is NASA’s plan for algae harvesting in the ocean. Large plastic bags filled with sewage would be placed in the ocean to grow algae. These bags devised and used by NASA would have semi-permeable membranes that willprovide home for algae to grow (using up sewage for this purpose) and will allow fresh water to flow out, thus not getting encumbered by evaporation and refill issues that plague closed bioreactors.

These plastic bags or enclosures will be made of the same membranes that NASA is currently exploring for recycling dirty water in space missions using forward-osmosis. NASA engineers would like to call it yet another example of using the technology developed for space travel, instead for making the “Spaceship Earth” more sustainable.

The big gain is that these plastic bags float in the ocean and so we do not draw-away water to irrigate in a different spot and we do not impose costs of additional losses of water, through evaporation, either on way to or in the bio reactors. This win-win situation – where a by-product is cleanliness because dirt or sewage is used by algae for its growth – is made ever better because algae uses up CO2 and releases oxygen in turn, thus helping better our environment. Eventually residue sewage can be extracted-out (by pulling-up the plastic bags) to keep them clean and efficient. This Offshore membranes’ technique, that NASA plans to use to grow algae and harvest oil from, leaves me ever more hopeful of a superior energy solution. What a wonderful world the algae – and those working on it – promise to create for us.

  The Arrogance of Authority

 BossesSelfimIage

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas , and talked with an old rancher.

He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."

The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....",
as he pointed out the location.

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority
of the Federal Government with me !"

Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.

"See this badge?!  This badge means
I am allowed to go wherever I wish....

On any land !!

No questions asked or answers given!!
Have I made myself clear......
do you understand ?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull...

NatureofTheBossImage2

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety.  The officer was clearly terrified.
The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs:

"Your badge,
Show him your BADGE !"

Bee collapse blamed on perfect storm of stresses

EarthTalkHoneyBees-732301

Photo: flickr/Rainer Hungershausen

http://php.delawareonline.com/blog/allgreentome/2009_09_01_archive.html

Dear EarthTalk: Not long ago there were concerns about honey bees disappearing. Are the bees still disappearing, and if so do we know why and do we have a solution? David, Grand Rapids, MI

The topic of disappearing honey bees first cropped up in 2004 and by the spring of 2007 was all over the news. Thousands of commercial beekeepers across the U.S. and beyond were reporting in some cases that as many as two-thirds of their honey bees were flying away from their hives, never to return. What made the problem -- dubbed "Colony Collapse Disorder" (CCD) -- so unusual is that most traumas to bee colonies leaves bees dead in or around their hives, not mysteriously gone altogether.

Strangely enough, there was no concrete evidence pointing to disease or predation or of mites that tend to attack bee hives. Some beekeepers reported that moths, animals and other bees were steering clear of the newly empty nests, leading to speculation that chemical contamination due to widespread use of pesticides might be to blame. But no smoking gun emerged and the mystery remains today.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (ARS), which last year convened a multi-agency steering committee to assess the problem and find solutions, several factors could be combining to cause CCD. "Pesticides may be having unexpected negative effects on honey bees," reports ARS, adding that as yet unknown parasites, pathogens or viruses could also be wreaking havoc on bee colonies. Studies have also indicated that poor management of populations of commercial honey bees -- including inadequate diet and long distance transportation -- may play a role.

In one study, researchers from Columbia University isolated the presence of a virus -- the so-called Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus -- in upwards of 96 percent of the hives studied that were affected by CCD. Other studies point to widespread use of Imidacloprid, a common grub-control chemical used on lawns and farms and which has already been banned in France due to its alleged effect on bees. But finding a single cause of CCD seems unlikely, and ARS researchers point to the possibility of "a perfect storm of existing stresses" weakening colonies to the point of collapse: "Stress ... compromises the immune system of bees ... and may disrupt their social system, making colonies more susceptible to disease."

Whatever the cause, CCD remains a real threat to agriculture. About a third of all American farm production is dependent upon the pollination efforts of commercially-raised honey bees. While diversifying the stock of insect pollinators beyond just one species of honey bee would certainly represent a step in the right direction, re-jiggering the nation's agricultural system represents no small challenge.

Not surprisingly perhaps, organic beekeepers have not experienced CCD, leading to speculation that overall greener management practices could be the answer even if direct causes are not determined. Meanwhile, efforts to genetically modify bees that are resistant to predators and pathogens could also prove fruitful, although such high tech solutions are still untested and could open up other cans of worms.

2011 Republican Congress Show Themselves To Be DUMB ASSES

        Teabagger%20Dunces
The Freshly Empowered Republicans are vowing to undo much of the work of the last Congress and launch investigations into a raft of Obama administration programs.

But their heavily partisan strategy runs the risk of alienating voters who are more concerned about jobs. (Remember, “It’s The Economy Stupid!?!?”)

At a moment when the Republican Party has the attention of economically beleaguered Americans, they will squander their efforts and time on repealing the Healthcare overhaul, challenges to federal regulations, and A READING OF THE CONSTITUTION ON THE HOUSE FLOOR. (Boy that will really get things going to bring back jobs and get the citizens of this country back to work!! Where are the “Dumb Ass Teabaggers” who voted for this group now?)

For me this new Republican Congress is just all flash and no substance…..and I can hardly believe that the citizens of this country fell for this act yet once again.

The cold hard truth is, the RNC is showing itself to be a debt-ridden, financially broken machine and yet this same group is expecting to spend over $1 BILLION dollars to try to unseat President Obama in 2012.

Those same Republican Party leaders, who are currently passing themselves off as being the clear choice for the country to be physically responsible with our U.S. National Budget Deficit, has led their own Republican Political Party finances after the 2010 mid-term National Elections, $20 MILLION in debt to date and expect to lead my Republican Party into a $1 BILLION dollar Presidential political campaign into 2012?

Well my question to those physical financially responsible Republican Party Leaders…..who is supposed to pay this $20 MILLION dollar bill? Who is supposed to pay the $1 BILLION dollar 2012 bill?

Could these Republican Leaders be just another Group of Blowhards who are not about to practice what they preach? I think that the latter is more to the factual truth.

        Q&A: The silent mind

Ideally, should one reject all thoughts during meditation?

The best thing is to try not to allow any thought to enter into your mind, whether it is a good thought or a bad thought. It is as though you are in your room, and somebody is knocking at your door. You have no idea whether it is an enemy or a friend. Divine thoughts are your true friends, and undivine thoughts are your enemies. You would like to allow your friends to enter, but you do not know who your friends are. And even if you do know who your friends are, when you open the door for them you may find that your enemies are also there.

Then, before your friends can cross the threshold, your enemies will also enter. You may not even notice any undivine thoughts, but while the divine thoughts are entering, the undivine thoughts, like thieves, will also secretly enter and create tremendous confusion. Once they have entered, it is very difficult to chase them out. For that you need the strength of solid spiritual discipline. For fifteen minutes you may cherish spiritual thoughts and then, in just a fleeting second, an undivine thought will come. So the best thing is not to allow any thoughts at all during your meditation. Just keep the door bolted from inside. There was a time when I loved you, 0 my thought-world. But now I love the beauty of a silence-mind and the purity of a gratitude-heart.

Your real friends will not go away. They will think, "Something is wrong with him. Usually he is so kind to us. So there must be some special reason why he is not opening the door." They have sympathetic oneness, so they will wait indefinitely. But your enemies will wait just for a few minutes. Then they will lose all patience and say, "It is beneath our dignity to waste our time here." These enemies have their pride. They will say, "Who cares? Who needs him? Let us go and attack somebody else." If you pay no attention to a monkey, the monkey will eventually go away and bite somebody else. But your friends will say, "No, we need him and he needs us. We will wait indefinitely for him." So after a few minutes your enemies will go away. Then you can open the door and your dearest friends will be there waiting for you.

If you meditate regularly and devotedly, after some time you will become inwardly strong. Then you will be able to welcome the divine thoughts and chase away the undivine thoughts. If you are getting a thought of divine love, divine peace or divine power, then you will allow that thought to enter into you and expand. You will let it play and grow in the garden of your mind. While the thought is playing and you are playing with it, you will see that you are growing into it. Each divine thought that you let in will create a new and fulfilling world for you, and will surcharge your entire being with divinity.

After a few years of meditation you will have enough inner strength to let in even the undivine thoughts. When an undivine thought comes into your mind, you will not reject it; you will transform it. When somebody undivine knocks at your door, if you have enough strength to compel him to behave properly once he enters, then you can open the door for him. Eventually you have to accept the challenge and conquer these wrong thoughts; otherwise, they will come back to bother you again and again.

                         eyeofthebeholder

I am so proud of my mind. Why?

Because it has started enjoying little things:
a simple thought, a pure heart, a humble life.

You have to be a divine potter. If the potter is afraid to touch the clay, then the clay will
remain always clay and the potter will not be able to offer anything to the world. But if the
potter is not afraid, he can transform the clay into something beautiful and useful. It is
your bounden duty to transform undivine thoughts, but only when you are in a position to do so safely.

Manning Marable, Historian and Social Critic, Dies at 60

        http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/02/arts/manning-marable-60-historian-and-social-critic.html?_r=1&emc=eta1&pagewanted=print
         MARABLE-obit-popup

Manning Marable, a leading scholar of black history and a leftist critic of American social institutions and race relations, whose long-awaited biography
of Malcolm X, more than a decade in the writing, is scheduled to be published on Monday, died on Friday in Manhattan. He was 60. His wife, Leith Mullings, said that the cause was not known but that Mr. Marable, who lived in Manhattan, had entered the hospital with pneumonia in early March. In July 2010, he had undergone a double lung transplant. Mr. Marable, a prolific writer and impassioned polemicist, addressed issues of race and economic injustice in numerous works that established him as one of the most forceful and outspoken scholars of African-American history and race relations in the United States.

He explored this territory in books like “How Capitalism Underdeveloped Black America” (1983), “Black Liberation in Conservative America” (1997) and “The Great Wells of Democracy” (2003), and in a political column, “Along the Color Line,” which was syndicated in more than 100 newspapers. At nearly 600 pages, “Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention,” to be published by Viking, presents a hefty counterweight to the well-known account “The Autobiography of Malcolm X.” The autobiography, long considered a classic of the 1960s civil rights struggle, was an “as told to” book written with Alex Haley and published in 1965.

Mr. Marable, drawing on new sources, archival material and government documents unavailable to Mr. Haley, developed a fuller account of Malcolm X’s politics, religious beliefs and personal life, as well as his role in the civil rights movement and the circumstances of his assassination. He also offers a revisionist portrait of Malcolm X at odds with Mr. Haley’s presentation of him as an evolving integrationist. “We need to look at the organic evolution of his mind and how he struggled to find different ways to empower people of African descent by any means necessary,” Mr. Marable said in a 2007 interview with Amy Goodman on the radio program “Democracy Now.” Mr. Marable’s political philosophy was often described as transformationist, as opposed to integrationist or separatist. That is, he urged black Americans to transform existing social structures and bring about a more egalitarian society by making common cause with other minorities and change-minded groups like environmentalists.

“By dismantling the narrow politics of racial identity and selective self-interest, by going beyond ‘black’ and ‘white,’ we may construct new values, new institutions and new visions of an America beyond traditional racial categories and racial oppression,” he wrote in the essay collection “Beyond Black and White: Transforming African-American Politics” (1995). In a telephone interview on Friday, the scholar and author Cornel West called Mr. Marable “our grand radical democratic intellectual,” adding, “He kept alive the democratic socialist tradition in the black freedom movement, and I had great love and respect for him.”

William Manning Marable was born on May 13, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin before receiving his doctorate from the University of Maryland in 1976. He directed ethnic studies programs at a number of colleges, notably the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University and the Africana and Latin American Studies program at Colgate University.

He was the chairman of the black studies department at Ohio State University in the late 1980s and also taught ethnic studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. At Columbia University, where he became a professor of public affairs, political science, history and African-American studies in 1993, he was the founding director of the Institute for Research in African-American Studies and the Center for the Study of Contemporary Black History.

In addition to his wife, who teaches anthropology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and who co-edited several of his books, Mr. Marable is survived by three children, Joshua Manning Marable of Boulder; Malaika Marable Serrano of Silver Spring, Md.; and Sojourner Marable Grimmett of Atlanta; two stepchildren, Alia Tyner of Manhattan and Michael Tyner of Brooklyn; a sister, Madonna Marable of Dayton; and three grandchildren. His other books included “Race, Reform and Rebellion: The Second Reconstruction in Black America, 1945-1982” (1984) and “The Great Wells of Democracy : The Meaning of Race in American Life” ( 2002), as well as two biographies published in 2005, “W. E. B. DuBois: Black Radical Democrat” and “The Autobiography of Medgar Evers,” which he edited with Myrlie Evers-Williams, Evers’s widow. He was the general editor of “Freedom on My Mind: The Columbia Documentary History of the African American Experience” (2003).

In 1992 he published “On Malcolm X: His Message and Meaning,” a work that prefigured the consuming project of his later years. “Beyond Boundaries: The Manning Marable Reader,” a selection of his writings, was published in January by Paradigm.

Forget oil and gas, Alaska could export water to India

A small Texas company says it hopes to start exporting water from Sitka to a
port along the west coast of India, which it will call its "World Water Hub."

        73RF tanker

S2C Global Systems, Inc. said last week it could be dispensing water in six to eight months from an unnamed port in India, hauling it by tanker from Baranof Island in Alaska. The firm created a limited liability company with "True Alaska Bottling" to export billions of gallons of water to a thirsty world. The LLC is "Alaska Resource Management."

True Alaska Bottling was founded eight years ago to focus on bottling and exporting water from Blue Lake, seven miles from Sitka. The company has a contract with the city of Sitka for 3 billion gallons of water a year, at a penny a gallon, according to a report on the Circle of Blue website, which covers the global water crisis.

The water sales could gross $90 million a year, the company says on its website. S2C stands for "source to consumer."

National Geographic says that Terry Trapp, a Colorado businessman and head of the True Alaska Bottling Co., acknowledges there are major economic and logistical issues to be solved.

“Anytime you do something that’s never been done before, you’re going to have a lot of challenges," Trapp said.

There are water shortages and people who need water all over the world,” Trapp told the magazine. “But the people in the most dire straits are in the Middle East.”
At Sawmill Cove in Sitka, tankers would be loaded by underwater pipe at a rate of up to 32 million gallons a day. The World Water Hub in India would be a big step, the promoters say.

"For security reasons the port will not be disclosed, however this first hub will include a berth for a Suezmax vessel (156,000 cubic meters/41Million USG), an offloading system to a dedicated tank farm and a distribution complex for packaged water. Within 18 months after that we will be able to switch to a very large class vessel (302,833 cubic meters/80 Million USG), as both the ship and the berth for her will be completed within this time frame. Contracts for the distribution hub and ships are being finalized.

"The company will be able to sell from its hub bulk fresh water by way of smaller ships that can deliver to shallower ports, like Umm Qasr in Iraq (located within 4 days of India’s west coast). S2C will also sell fresh water in 20-foot containers with flexi-tanks (4623 USG) suitable for pharmaceutical/high tech manufacturing and packaged water (18.9 and 10L) for the consumer markets anywhere containers are delivered in south and west Asia from India."

"India itself provides a particularly significant growth market for the packaged waters with a current population of 1.15 billion people, an emerging middle class and an increasing clean water shortage.

"Our Alaskan mountain water is so pure it requires no treatment except to remove organics that might be present through the natural cycle. During its 30-day voyage from Alaska to the Arabian Sea we will protect the water using an “Ozonating” system in the ships holds."

“S2C Global has an exciting future in India and the region” the press release quotes Rod Bartlett as saying. He is managing partner of Alaska Resource Management and President of S2C Global Systems.

“After recently spending time in India meeting port authorities and potential distributors, our vision to distribute water globally became real. We fully expect the India World Water Hub to fulfill our minimum expectations of a half a billion gallons sold annually”.

Tankers would be just one of the ways in which water could be transported. A Japanese company is studying the option of filling giant plastic bags of fresh water that would be towed through the ocean.

A writer for TheAtlantic.com says that S2C Global has tried various enterprises in the last nine years, starting off as the "Sun Vacation Club" in 2001 and later becoming "United Athletes." It changed its name to S2C Global and entered the water business. The most recent annual SEC report said, "to date the company has little or no revenues," TheAtlantic.com editor Alexis Madrigal wrote in  a posting on the Sitka export plan.

The SEC report said the company plans to sell water for two to three cents a gallon at the loading point in Sitka, which is two to three times as much as it pays the city for the water.

The license requires the company to pay at least $200,000 a year to Sitka, whether or not water has been sold.

"The market for the water is significant as more than 50% of the world’s population lives in water stressed areas," the company says. "The cost of shipping and the lack of offloading facilities are major stumbling blocks to ARM’s success in this endeavor."

Shades of Wally Hickel and the water pipeline. But in a world where people will pay $1 for a glass of bottled water, anything seems possible.

Sometimes the choices we make, define us…

The Skit Guys – God’s Chisel

I recently went back to my home town where I grew up – a small village up North that sits nestled along the sides of a river.  At one end of village there is an estuary leading to open water and at the other end are bush clad hills.  In the last century they used the river to transport logs and cargo.  At one end of the river, if you know where to look, there is an old overgrown graveyard, planted in the hills, it looks over the river and holds the remains of many of the men that lost their lives on the river or ocean waves.

The river is tidal and had come in and gone out hundreds of times, before I returned that day.  The last time I had been here was when I was about 17, I am now dangerously close to 40.  When I was growing up in the village, my friends and I, used to rule the area.  We were big fish in a very small pond and were into all manner of things, some good and some bad.  In most small towns you have a few things in common, a gas station, a local store, school, takeaways and a Publican.  Not a lot of opportunities for employment, not a lot of opportunities full stop.

I struggled constantly under the rule of a man that also struggled with the bottle and his internal demons.  This man is my father and I yearned for his love and approval, but instead received his violence, bitterness and jealously over my mother’s love for me.  It finally got to a point where I could no longer endure the abrupt change in emotions that each day brought.  It was time to move on, the tide was about to change, and as the sea once again drained itself away from the shores of the village, so did I.

I moved to a bigger city and got a job and few years went by.  I got married to a wonderful Christian woman who through time taught me how to love.  She has not stopped believing and seeing the best in me, even if at times I found that the most difficult to bear, as I knew my heart.  Over time God spoke to my heart, at first it wasn’t easy to trust a Father, it wasn’t easy to be a son.  However, God’s timing like everything about Him is perfect.  He knew exactly the right time to show me His love and His acceptance.  It seemed like the most logical thing in the world to do, and so I gave my life to Christ.  As I did that, I finally stopped running, and started to accept that I now have a heavenly father that loves me so much.  I was filled with a river of love that to put it quite simply is at times overwhelming.  I stood against the recycling of my natural father’s life and made a decision to live my life for a greater cause where I serve only Christ.  Has it been easy? No – but nothing worthwhile is ever easy.  Now because of Christ I am becoming a better man, husband and father.  Most of all I am now a son of the most High, who is dearly loved, by a God who wants to know about me, who counts the hairs on my head – “Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it and the very hairs on your head are all numbered, so don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows”. Matthew 10:29 – 31(NLT), and keeps my tears in a bottle – “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book”. Psalm 58:6 (NLT)  Even more than that, he made it possible through His son Jesus Christ, that I, a sinner, can be saved.  It is truly a mystery to me that My Lord would come to this earth, leave His heavenly throne and all His majesty and glory.  Be violently nailed to a cross and left to hang and to die of a broken heart.  He did all this for my salvation, even when it was my sin that put Him there in the first place.  I am eternally thankful that he did, for I am His and He is mine.

And here I was, some 20 years on, looking over the river, watching it glide along, remembering the same sounds and smells of my youth.  I decided to go for a run; I parked my car at the beginning of the village and began to run from one end to the other.  As I started, many memories came flooding back, some good but mostly bad.  Then as I began to warm up, the blood pumping through my veins, I started to hear it, it startled me a first as it was totally unexpected.  It was the voice of the enemy, coming through as the voice of my father, reminding me that I will never be anything, tearing away at my confidence.  I heard loud shouting and the vivid memories of explosive violence, which I knew only too well.

And as the sweat started to drip down my face and sting my eyes, as the tiredness started to grab hold of my legs, I literally felt like I was running with the devil.  I felt attacked by my past so many memories, so long ago.  But as I reached the halfway point, I noticed that things started to ease, the voices were not so intimidating, not so loud, not filled with the same rage they started with.  As I ran past the old Store, I realised to my surprise that no one even recognised me.  That time had in fact moved on, this wasn’t my home anymore, my spirit no longer lived here.  I have a love and freedom now that world cannot understand.

And then I looked at that river I remembered what Jesus said… “If you are thirsty, come to me! If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within.” John 7:38 -39 (NLT) ...I am His and He is mine, I declare that I have been bought at a high price, by the blood of my Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ, I am part of the river of living water.

I returned to my car, and decided to take one more drive through the village before I head back down south.  In my pride I thought I would be recognised, in my shame I was glad I wasn’t.  Its funny how we think we leave an impact on a place, like a wake behind a vessel, but when we do go back we are hardly recognised. The Psalmist said it best – “Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die.  The wind blows, and we are gone – as though we had never been here. But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments!” Psalm 103:15 -18 (NLT). So as I left this village, this place where my old nature lived, to return to my wife and children, I noticed the river boats like myself have slowly started to move, to change direction, to follow new currents at the changing of the tides.

What about you friend? Have you faced up to the voices of your past, to receive your future, that only He can give… or are you still running with the enemy?

For some ”Father’s Day” means scar’s and ugly memories which have yet to be fully expunged from hearts or at best forgiven, so that we can move on and be free.  For others, maybe it gives pleasant memories of fun filled times with a loving father.  Or perhaps it is an empty hole because they have never known a father either through death or because their father absconded and was never truly known.

Now we find ourselves in the same position as our fathers had been in relation to us.  In a place where we are charged with the responsibility to “give” to our children in the way, we have been or would have loved to have been able to receive from our Dad’s.

What do you want to leave as a memory for your children versus what are your memories of your father?

When I recall my father, though he died over 37 years ago, I am reminded that I had so little time with him to learn and to understand what motivated him in life, what caused him to live the life he did and hold onto his faith.

If you consider this fact, that you do not know the day of your death, as my father did not.  What memory do you want to leave your children, what drove and motivated you to be the man you are now?

For man also knoweth not his time: Ecclesiastes 9:12a (KJV)

I only had 15 years to obtain some of those threads to my Dad’s life.  However, I have come to realise that even though they are small in number, there have been enough threads for me to grasp the essentials of what he would have desired to pass on to me, so that I could pass them on to my children.

What threads have you left for your children?

Raising boys in my fathers time was within a totally different framework from where I stand today, bringing up my sons.  Technology, the environment, society has all altered beyond recognition.  However, the message that a good father has to pass on, is still the same – as the core truths of life are timeless and ageless.

So what message or advice did my Dad’s life pass on to me that is still as relevant today as it was 100 years ago.

        1.            A good name is worth more than all the riches of this world.    For the day of a man’s death is more important than the day of his birth? So said King Solomon more than 2,000 years ago. What you are at the day of your death defines what you have become through the way you lived your life.  This will also in turn define where you spend eternity.

        2.            Honesty is always the best policy!    You never need to look over your shoulder if you act honestly in all of your endeavours.

        3.            Treat others as you want to be treated yourself!

        4.            Love your family with all your heart - even when it hurts! As our saviour Jesus Christ loved us even to death on a cruel Roman cross.

        5.            Love your wife as Christ loves his Church. Love sacrificially with all of your might: this will be the glue that bonds your family together and demonstrates to your children what it means to have a great marriage.

        6.            Pursue virtue with all your heart in all you do. This will protect you from falling into evil ways and destroying all that you love the most – your wife, children, your close friends and family.

        7.            To love is to serve.  In serving our lives as men are made full and complete.  Christ was a servant and the very expression of love.  He did not live a life in reckless pursuit of his own personal schemes, He lived to serve!

One thing is certain in life – we will all die – but in that there is another truth - that whilst we will all die – not all of us will truly ‘LIVE!’

Solomon reminds us very clearly that we cannot control death, distress, defiance, and deception.  If we can accept this and then simply entrust everything to God – then we will not be ruled by misery or anxiety!  We can well note that anxiety is the scourge of the 21st century man!  However our solution is not found in the bottle but in God’s wisdom!

With this in mind we can certainly live in the full knowledge that this life can be exceptionally hard and difficult at times – yet it is also without doubt abundant and fulfilling, when you commit all to Christ.

In considering these statements I am further reminded that as I have pursued God’s way myself, I have grown up to understand more fully the above list of things my Dad has passed on to me.  I am clearly reminded that my Heavenly Father – having said He would be a ‘Father to the Fatherless’ has done exactly this through a variety of methods and means, some which have hurt a lot and others that have been encouraging.

Regardless of my personal experience of a father and fathering I am reminded on this coming Father’s Day that our ultimate example is in fact from our Heavenly Father.  That He has placed on each of us a huge weight of responsibility that as a father we ought also to sacrifice ourselves in the same way that He did, to enable our children to find God’s way which leads to eternal life!

So let’s remember our children this Fathers Day and perform some small action for example a special ‘Dad note’ that will bless and show them that they are a high priority in our lives.  They are also children for whom Christ died just as we are and what is important to Christ, our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit our teacher and guide through this life, is of equal paramount importance to us – their earthly Dad!

God Bless all you Dad’s!           Go on – just do it and be it!

        Pastor Manning again

In this recently posted video Pastor Manning speaks about the nature of the African as no one outside of WN will.  At times his frankness and his frustration are almost unbearable.  One cannot help but feel sympathy for the man.  His solution to the serial destructiveness of his own people, unsurprisingly, is to class it as an Original Sin from which only faith in the Almighty can deliver them.  But sociobiology is not Original Sin.  The conjunction of male assertiveness, impulsivity, poor moral apprehension, and a poor capacity to calculate the consequences of personal choices must have been producers of fitness in the Sub-Saharan evolutionary context.  They were producers of human suffering too, of course.  But Nature contains no aversion to suffering, human or otherwise.  So in diaspore, in the context of other peoples existence, these characteristics remain producers of human suffering, and that suffering is not exclusively African.

        thisisfunny
One or two of the commenters in the thread to the video have picked up on the fact that:

… the 1% he leaves out is vital. It isn’t the “police” or “military” that keeps the negro from tearing this country apart; it’s White society as a whole.

As Europeans it isn’t our responsibility to exemplify the civilised for Africans to imitate or to suppress African nature in perpetuity and minimise thereby the costs to us in lost lives, lost genetic interests, and in hard cash.  It is our responsibility to protect our own.

        Tectonics and the European revolution

Have you had the feeling, as you trawl the big news stories for meanings pertinent to our cause, that we are witnessing right now, in 2011, the unfolding of something extraordinary, something that cannot be mapped in advance, that may change the lives of billions of people, including ours, before its energy is spent?  Adrian Hamilton of The Independent certainly has.  He writes in yesterday’s rag:

Events in the Arab world and in Japan are clearly particular to themselves. But the sense they have given of an old order that has run its course, that no longer responds to the feelings of its people, are not unique.

Consider the list of complaints – corruption that enriches the few and oppresses the many, political systems (democratic as well as autocratic) that have lost the confidence of the population, industrial solutions that cannot cope with catastrophe. They are common cries of much of the world.

If the one dominating factor of events today is their unpredictability, then it would be foolish to predict where they will end up. We don’t even begin to know. But the one thing I am sure of is that history is on the move, and we’re only just at the beginning.

There is something in Hamilton’s idea, I think - at least as regards the Islamic world.  One of the commenters to his article weighs up history’s options thus:

One path leads to tyranny, despotism, corruption and violence. The other to chaos, anarchy, corruption and violence.

... and this also is probably a fair appraisal of the way the two tectonic plates of North African and Middle Eastern politics - modernism and traditionalism - are disposed.  But is there anything in this relevant to our situation, above and beyond the very general assumptions that inform Adrian Hamilton’s thinking?  Marine Le Pen certainly thinks so, judging from the quote I reproduced a couple of days ago:

We’re in a pre-revolutionary situation here. What’s happening today resembles what was happening before the French revolution. I think the desire for a revolution like those on the other side of the Mediterranean exists here. Of course, I’m appealing for a democratic revolution – and that’s also perhaps the role of the Front National – for a peaceful revolution by the ballot box, a patriotic revolution.

Where Hamilton with his unpredicatability thesis and Marine with her pre-revolutionary situation differ is on the question of time.  Nationalists know something about revolution.  We have been thinking on the problem for a long while.  We understand that the opposing tectonic plates on which our lives are lived out - racial community and individualism/economism - move at certain moments, and not necessarily with the peaceful results for which Marine appeals.  The American Civil War was perhaps the classic example.  The rise of Hitler and NSDAP was another.  The Kosovo War was the most recent.

So, following (Adrian) Hamilton’s Rule are there signs in the European world that history is on the move at last?  Or is it just that the drive towards the Globality is pushing on and in turn nationalism, in its struggle to resist, is getting things a little more right with Marine, Wilders and associated civic and anti-Islamist politicos?  In other words, the pressure is continuing to build but there’s no sign of any European earthquake, and no matter what happens in North Africa and the Middle-East our historic moment, if it is going to come at all, will come in its own sweet and, one must hope, demographic rather than geological time.

Outcry at Gerald Kaufman’s ‘it’s the Jews again’ remark in House of Commons

Manchester Gorton MP Sir Gerald Kaufman is facing formal complaints after exclaiming ‘Here we are, the Jews again’ when a fellow Labour MP stood up in the Commons.

He made the remark from his seat when Louise Ellman stood to make an intervention during the report stage of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill. It is understood Mrs Ellman was ‘very upset’ by the remarks and has made a formal complaint to the Labour Party.

Both she and Sir Gerald are Jewish but have differing views on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Conservative MP Matthew Offord said he also intended to make a complaint. The comments were made during a debate over plans to change the law on universal jurisdiction.

At present anyone can seek an arrest warrant against a suspected war criminal providing they can satisfy a senior judge that there is a case to answer.

But in a speech, Labour's Ann Clwyd accused ministers of trying to change the law to require that the Director Of Public Prosecutions must sign off on any arrest warrant before it is issued.

She said ministers were acting at the behest of the Israeli government after its former foreign minister Tzipi Livni was arrested during a visit to Britain in December 2009. When Mrs Ellman stood up to intervene in Ms Clwyd’s speech, Sir Gerald said from his seat: "Here we are, the Jews again."

Top Ten Reasons for agribusiness investors to consider Uruguay 1. In Uruguay there are no restrictions on foreign ownership of farmland which is available in abundance ; the country has about 10% less land area than the Indian states of Gujarat/Karnataka. While Gujarat/Karnataka have population over 5 crores, Uruguay has population of just 35 lakhs - 70% of the population of Ahmedabad/or half the population of Bangalore. In Uruguay, there are 4 cows for each person, and each cow, on average, has 2 football fields worth of grazing area to itself!! Not surprisingly, dairy is a key export sector 2. Uruguay has clear land titles - all land is GPS mapped to high accuracy and all land records are in a transparent, public-access database. There is no problem with land squatters - with low population density of 6 persons per sq km outside main cities there are simply not enough people to cause such problems. Anyway, the reason we are in kratie, which is north of the capital, is because we want to spot some irrawaddy dolphins, one of the few species of fresh water dolphin, and a protected species, you can find them here, laos, australia and in india, which is where we failed to spot them earlier in the trip

Millions and millions of people in India do not have access to clean drinking water. Mission In Action digs wells and uses water trucks to get fresh water to people. Rameswaram Unleashed Oh Boy! What a day! We had some amazing experiences on this day from this holy land. We started early at 4:30 AM and walked from the hotel over to the temple for the 'Spadika Linga Darsanam' which starts at 5:00. Reaching the temple we took special passes for a close Darshan of the deity and stood in line for about 30 minutes to reach the sanctum sanctorum. So many priests were performing many morning rituals, chanting the holy mantras. We were amazed at the beauty of the decorated Siva Lingam placed at the center of the hall. It is about 10 inches tall and has an aura emanating, the reflection of lights surrounding it. The special pass gave us few extra seconds of viewing time, may be fifteen seconds in total, before being ushered away making way for the thousands behind us. We rushed back outside the main door to meet our Guide for the next events. Our driver promised us a good Guide because the bathing ritual in the 22 holy wells situated all over the temple property needed some expert support. Our guide gave us some instructions on how to perform the whole holy bathing event. First up, Agnitheertham. About 200 yards from the main gate is this holy well. Well, this well is no mini pond, it's the Ocean. We walked straight down the paved stones and in to the ocean about  spirulina - Pondicherry Spirulina Farms - (Puducherry - India) Intro-1

These winged visitors from Siberia, China, central Asia and northern Europe add color to Indian Kashmir's wetlands and fresh water lakes. The birds began their flight to Kashmir in early September and will stay here till spring. Here at the Hokersar wetlands some of the migratory bird species visiting include waterfowl, shoveller, white-eyed pochard and greylag. [Ghulam Hassan Dar, Wildlife Guard]: "You can see that so many birds are here at present, namely mallard, pintail, godwall, geese. About 450000 birds are here already." Wetland authorities are hopeful that the migratory birds will surpass last year's record of 900000 birds. Bird poachers are a big concern for authorities. [Ghulam Ahmed Lone, Wildlife Warden]: "We are taking anti-poaching measures here at this time. During the militancy period we couldn't conduct night patrolling. But now that difficulty is gone. Our staff members go there for night patrolling and during the evening as well. Our staff members have helped us in decreasing the number of poachers. And even if at any point of time we catch hold of a poacher, we would take strict action as per the wildlife act." In the Kashmir valley there are four more wetland areas, besides the Hokersar, that are also visited every year by the thousands of migratory birds. Natural alternative building

Hi this is Shelly Klassy; I am from California, USA. I was here for my Gastric bypass surgery in India. And when I have done with it, I must say that it was my wonderful days staying for this treatment in India. I never knew things would be so smooth which would promise a life long remedy from my obesity related diseases. I had been suffering from this impediment since long, and was worried as to what would be its end; will I be able to lead how normal people live with or still continue with this problem. With these things in my mind, I kept horrified; I was really in a mess thinking of getting rid of this problem. I did try consulting my doctors but the Gastric bypass surgery was out of my reach. And everyone knows the high fees charged for such treatments done in the US. I have heard of having Gastric bypass surgery in India done in my budget through some of my friends in Dallas and hence thought of searching the same over the Internet. I then soon got the contact info of a medical tourism group called Indianmedguru (the website is www.indianmedguru.com ) to which I communicated and got some good proposals. I discussed with my husband, he too bought my idea of being treated in India. The accommodation for my Gastric bypass surgery in India where we stayed in was better than excellent, we were placed in a private room where we had internet access, TV and DVD and our own Refrigerator stocked with fresh fruits, bottled water and fruit juices, we also had tea and coffee  Katy Perry - California Gurls feat. Good Art Outlasts Political Power

I was sitting, mindlessly passing the time, not focusing on anything particularly, when
a thought came into my mind that I decided to expand upon and develop further.
“Good Art outlasts the powerful people of the time the art was created.”

        mona%20lisa
First example that comes to mind is anything Leonardo da Vinci created verses the religious power brokers that enforced their
interpretations of religious laws and almost burned him at the stake for following science facts.
Conclusion: The Mona Lisa is one of the most visited artworks and is revered by many to be one of the best paintings of
all time. Oh by the way, the sun does not revolve around the earth and the earth is not flat. So much for the religious
         inquisitions.

        Bombing%20of%20Guernica
Pablo Picasso’s portrayal of the “Bombing of Guernica” by German bombers during the Spanish Civil War has more of a current
message and meaning than Francisco Franco Bahamonde, who sanctioned the bombing act, emerging as the leader of the
Nationalists government after winning the civil war with military aid from Italy and Nazi Germany.
Conclusion: The Spanish people are glad Franco is gone and requested the artwork be returned to Spain for permanent display.

        Citizen%20Kane%20Movie%20Poster
The movie, “Citizen Kane,” is still revered with more reverence and admiration than the once powerful man it parodied,
William Randolph Hearst. Conclusion: Conservatively Political Hearst could never get elected to any political office, and
the movie is still being played and enjoyed on Classic Movie TV.

These are just a few examples, and I am sure my friend, Microdot, can come up with many, many, many, more. So I would
like to know everyone’s thoughts and examples on this subject.

        A Conversation with Richard Dreyfuss

        Richard%20Dreyfuss
        Diane%20Rehm

I happened to turn on the radio and started listening to The Diane Rehm Show on NPR. She
was interviewing Richard Dreyfus and I was soon engrossed by the program. What impressed me most was Richard Dreyfus’s prolific insight on Civics and the current political environment.

Below is the link to the transcript of that interview.
        http://thedianerehmshow.org/shows/2011-01-24/conversation-richard-dreyfuss/transcript

In speaking of the late President Kennedy, Richard Dreyfus said:
“In speaking of President Kennedy, that he had said things that were ahead of its time. He really was, I think, the last American president to lead the people. Sometimes to places where they didn't want to go and were reluctant and sometimes to a place where they wanted to go. And thankfully, civility is one of them and I had the privilege a few weeks ago -- a few months ago of watching his televised speeches about Civil Rights and it was a real shock to see an American president clearly out ahead of his majority. He was ahead of us and he was saying something that if we don't come to this place, we will have failed ourselves morally and it was a hell of a statement.”

Dreyfuss went onto say, “With such a peace, there will still be quarrels and conflicting interests as there are within families and nations. World peace, like community peace, does not require that each man love his neighbor, it requires only that they live together in mutual tolerance, submitting their disputes to a just and peaceful settlement. And if we cannot find an end to our differences, at least we can make the world safe for diversity. For in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's future and we are all mortal.”

“But isn't it interesting that even back then, President Kennedy was talking about civility, he was talking about differences of opinion, he was talking about how people get along in families, in communities and look where we are today.”

“Yeah, it's not a pretty picture and what he was doing in 1960, he could've been saying in 1760 or in 1460 or any year before that. Human nature is what it is. We are not Jaguars, we are not built for perfect efficiency, we don't laze away on a nice sunny day while the river runs dry and we don't always hunt only the huntable. We are human and we are diverse and we are silly and stupid and bright and intelligent and what is so extraordinary about the Constitution is that is was able to take into its creation the flaws and virtues of mankind as opposed to ignoring mankind completely.”

This next statement really impressed me:
Richard Dreyfus then went onto say, “When I ask students what was so revolutionary about our Revolutionary War, the answer is usually that we broke away from Great Britain. And I say, no, it was that for the first time ever, we were actualizing the idea that the ruler and the ruled were one thing and that the people were not the audience to the performance of the nobility, that we were all the same value and all contributed. And that was at the time probably the most important message in 13,000 years of politics.”

Later on in the program Diane Rehm played a segment from Mr. Holland’s Opus where Richard Dreyfus’s charter states:
“No, no, do not misunderstand me. I am not talking about my job. I am talking about the education that students once got at Kennedy High versus the education that you people are willing to give these kids today.” Then later goes on to say, “Oh, come on, Michael. You know, the big problem here is that you people are willing to create a generation of children who will not have the ability to think or create or listen.”

Diane Rehm then asked, “And it would seem to me that in real life, Richard Dreyfuss, you believe that what teachers consider to be their best right now is not good enough. And that students are not living up to what they could.”

Richard Dreyfuss reply, “There's a word in English that should be far more familiar to all of us and the word is exemplification. You can't exemplify reason or logic or goals of virtue unless you exemplify them and if you only exemplify, for instance, the public discussion of politics as something that is yelled and screamed and interrupted and patronized, then that becomes public discourse. And because you cannot scream reason, your advertisers will support screamers first. And so you raise two, three generations of people who don't know what reason sounds like, who don't know what a public discussion of a public issue can sound like without the melodrama of talk show radio or being demonized. And when you have a representative democracy, sooner or later, you have to get down to a definition which includes the willingness to share political space with those with whom you disagree, but if you demonize, you're not sharing anything.”

Later again in the program, Richard Dreyfuss said he had written the article because, “I was so hurt and offended by President Bush's casual inclusion of torture in the American Political Lexicon, something that had almost achieved the iconic level of taboo and he brought it back as if it was, you know, higher taxes or lower taxes.”

To later continue on with this thought:
“Teach our kids practical political power, teach it to them as their brains develop and can accept it more and more in its complexity, but teach it to them before they graduate high school so that they have a sense of ownership and pride. And that the next time someone tries to steal America, which is now a commonplace daily activity -- when someone tries to steal America from Americans, those future monarchs of this system will know when they're being flimflammed and what to do.”

“The fundamentals aren't there. When I was a kid, I was in love with America. I was -- my father and his generation had saved us from the most vivid civics lesson in history, Adolph Hitler. And when Hitler -- when we realized that Hitler meant every word he said, we stopped the whole world, went over to Europe and beat him to death because we knew we were not going to do that world.”

“But when it comes to the study of history and the study of the ethics involved with the writing of the Constitution and how incredible a coincidence in history it was that we could gather those men from the enlightenment era and actualize something that no one had ever thought to actualize. For them to do that and for us to learn it in its context is to make people aware of a pride of a country that is deserved and substantive, as opposed to being asked to love your country for no particular reason whatsoever.”

Diane Rehm then asked, “Is that your great concern that young people do not, in this era, grow up with the sense of pride in their country? “

In which Richard Dreyfuss replied, “I think it's one of the consequences. Another probably more important is that we grow up without any sense of connection and responsibility. We grow up without accountability and we grow up oddly enough without reward and punishment. Republican democracy is a two-way street where the people are not only the rulers, they are the people. And not only are they the rulers and the people, they are the neighbors in business, they are the neighbors in nursing, they are the neighbors who you are, in one way or another, accountable for and to, to make your society better. And when you remove that sense of responsibility from, let's say, local business and local business starts to recreate what used to be known as let the buyer beware, I can sell you a piece of junk. And if you don't catch me you can't do anything to me.”

I highly suggest everyone go to the link site and read for yourselves the transcript of this interview program. I personally found it to be very epific, and thought provoking.

Sarah Palin's Weird WTF “Sputnik” Story

On Wednesday night, Sarah Palin attacked the “Sputnik Moment” line from President Obama's second State of the Union address.
        sputnik
Sarah went on to say, “That was another one of those WTF Moments, when he so often repeated this Sputnik
moment that he would aspire Americans to celebrate. And he needs to remember that what happened back
then with the former communist USSR and their victory in that race to space, yes, they won, but they also
incurred so much debt at the time that it resulted in the inevitable collapse of the Soviet Union.”

        !?!?!
        sputnikbuger
Sarah Palin in her Tea Party’s counter point rant, wildly misconstrued the president's argument, which was not about
emulating the Soviets in the 1950's but instead about the Americans who responded to early Soviet success in space
exploration by educating themselves and out-innovating the Soviets. I am seriously doubtful that Sarah could
comprehend or more to the fact that did she even listen to the speech?

But let's pretend that wasn't Obama's point. The Soviets didn't have an empire-draining debt problem until some 30
years after Sputnik passed over America. And when they did, it was in large part a result of massive overinvestment
in heavy industry, which supported Soviet military pretensions (Much like Bush and Cheney did). None of this is to
argue that the Soviet economy is anything we should emulate. But let's at least get the basic facts right when we
         criticize it.

It's a fair guess that Palin thought she was borrowing her "insight" from the mythology of Ronald Reagan, who
massively increased America's spending (Which took the U.S. from being the largest Creditor Nation to the
largest Debtor Nation running up the largest record U.S. debt at that time. A fact the many self proclaiming
         Conservatives conveniently forget.)
to spur the sort of competitive expenditure that contributed to the ballooning
of Soviet debt in the 1980's. According to many conservatives, this was a crucial factor that catalyzed the Soviet
         collapse.

But in claiming that the Soviets incurred their consequential debts long before Reagan was president, Palin ends
up arguing that the Gipper wasn't nearly that responsible for the USSR spending itself to death. If a reverence for
Reagan's anti-Soviet spending inspired her narrative in the first place, then this is incoherent. If she's just making
this all up, then she's really also claiming that the “Reagan Brought Down The USSR” narrative is overstated.

Palin appears to be lazily checking a lot of Fox News boxes. She wants to criticize Obama's State of the Union
address, so she grabs hold of the Sputnik line. She wants to make a point about debt, so she invents a histor
in which the USSR had a debt crisis decades before this inference could have made much sense. Even better --
her argument sounds like an implicit vindication of Reagan, but that really just makes it either self-contradictory
         or hostile to Reagan's legacy.

Even worse, it seems that Palin planned her rhetorical disaster; as she goes on to discuss the "Spudnut Shop,"
a bakery in Washington State that's succeeding without government support.
        Smug%20Sarah%20Palin
Sarah Palin’s latest demonstration of her personal lacking qualities are
yet more evidence that her judgment in both what she says and who
she has vetted, is pathetic. It's not even cleverly manipulative. It is
just sad and speaks volumes of those Tea Party members who follow her!!
